(USA-California-Anaheim June 16, 2014) —- The Mountain House Wolverines 12U Boys Amateur Athletics Union (AAU) Basketball team completed an impressive 5-1 record and first place finish at the Coca-Cola Nationals Tournament the weekend of June 13-15th in Anaheim CA.
Head Coach Tavio Meeks and Coach Ed Zeno have had this squad play in AAU tournaments throughout the Winter and Spring season in preparation for the Coca-Cola tournament. Since the beginning of 2014, they have achieved 9 first place finishes out of the 13 tournaments entered. The Coca Cola Tournament follows another impressive first place finish in the Gold Bracket of the Jam On It Tournament in Reno NV during Memorial weekend!
The tournaments the 12U Boys have entered have not been against cupcake competition. As prescribed by the Wolverines organization philosophy of challenging the players of each Wolverines team, they have competed against top AAU teams throughout Northern & Southern California.
In Anaheim, they played against mostly Southern California teams including JC Hoops, The Rancho Cucamonga Bulls and fellow Nor Cal team All Out Blaze. The toughest game was the semi-finals game against the Rancho Cucamonga Bulls, a 36-30 victory that required lock down defense and focus on achieving a team win.
The Wolverines were the only AAU team to represent the Tracy and Mountain House area at the Coca-Cola Tournament this year. This team consists of players age 12 and under who have played together under the Wolverines organization the past two years.
The Wolverines is primarily an invite only AAU organization. For more information on the Mountain House Wolverines, go to their website http://mhtwolverines.org.
