Wolverines making waves in AAU circuit

(USA-California-Mountain House April 30, 2013 —- The Mountain House Wolverines 2013 Spring Season has been well underway! It all started with tryouts in January & February that resulted in ten teams ranging between 2nd grade and high school. The Wolverines was established in 2011 by Principal Director and current Encinal High School Boys Coach, Reno Ursal.
Tournament play has been highlighted by the following 1st place finishes:

1. High School JV Girls – Coach Pang Kol – April Shower’s Tournament – Selma CA – 4//14/13
2. 4th Grade Boys – Coach Lemuel Vergara – Extreme Hoops – Rocklin CA – 3/23/13 4th Quarter Challenge – Rancho Cordova CA – 4/20/13
3. 5th Grade Boys – Coach Tavio Meeks – 4th Quarter Challenge – Rancho Cordova CA – 4/20/13
4. 2nd Grade Boys – Coach Humberto Padilla – 4th Quarter Challenge – Rancho Cordova CA – 4/20/13
5. 7th Grade Boys – Coach Reno Ursal – West Coast Basketball – Martinez CA – 4/27/13

Coach Joseph Olsen, Paul Boss and Margaret Carver’s teams have also been competitive in their tournaments so far. Upcoming tournaments include Jam On It Memorial Tournament in Reno, Nevada and High School showcase tourneys for the high school squads over the summer.

In addition to the tournaments, the Wolverines strive to provide unique experiences for players and non-roster invitees. During Spring break, the Wolverines held a basketball camp for kids between Kindergarten to 6th grade, led by Wolverines Assistant Coach Darryl Gorman, which focused on dribbling and shooting fundamentals.

In March 2013, a “spring season kick-off practice” was held at the GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS practice facility in Oakland where player met the Warrior Girls and Warriors staff who assisted with drills throughout the day.
